Gardening at Longmeadow Kindle Edition

Lovely book. However it was damaged on arrival due to no protective packaging! I needed to send it on to my daughter for her birthday so she will receive a damaged book. Not happy at all with the careless way it was sent - a beautiful hardcover book deserves better treatment! And there is nowhere to report such an issue unless I return it. I am a long-standing Amazon customer but this order shows a deteriorating shipping standard. Monty Don is a wonderful author but you might think about ordering his books from your local book store.

A very eloquent writer who doesn’t just talk about the mechanics of a garden, but also the spirit and soul. I would have liked more photos of the plants he talked about as I spent some time going on line to look them up, but enjoyed the book very much. Monty always shares his philosophy of life, an insight that is uplifting and comforting.

I watch all of Monty's programs so it's very nice to see the gardening chores and blooms at the farm through the year. Love the book.

PerfectReminds me so much of the gardens back home in England, I have already learnt a lot from Monty's book.

I am studying it and jotting down what I am going to be doing in the acres of mess.

Monte Don is a great gardener & writer!

I love everything Monty Don writes. He's a garden philosopher and a gardening expert. Then, on top of all that, he gardens; and writes to all of us about his ups and downs, dreams and experiments. I try always to start my day with a few pages from this book.

Much like his style on TV this is a relaxing read, the information is passed on in his skilled conversational manner. It's a gardeners handbook an insight into how he gardens and his own garden and its style. A journey leading you by the hand to help you create your own magical garden. Late to gardening and to Monty Don I thoroughly enjoyed it and will just say ....... roll on the arrival of spring.

If you like Monty Don and Gardener's World, you will love this book. Full of information for the gardening year, it covers his own personal garden at Long Meadow. It's a beautiful place and the book is a great read.

I really enjoyed this book. There is a lot concerning veg growing which I don't have room for but I'm inspired to grow some where I can. Longmeadow is on heavy clay as is my own plot so it's encouraging that Monty can grow stuff I thought wouldn't be possible on clay.I don't necessarily agree with all of Montys gardening philosophies..and that's normal..for example he considers climate change is "done deal"...whereas I think it's the biggest environmental con trick of the 20th century. But hey ho...he's still a good unpretentious gardener in the Geoff Hamilton mould and just on that basis I'd recommend this book.4 stars as I'd like more photographs but I'm being a bit picky.

I bought this as a gift for my garden loving daughter. As a huge Monty fan she was thrilled to bits and uses it as her ‘go to’ for advice but also to enjoy. Highly recommend
