It does slice ULTRA THIN. I was looking for one that sliced ultra thin for veggie chips- It's perfect You can slice up and down, getting a slice for each direction, but I thought slicing up felt funny and resulted in a odd shaped slice, The holder that comes with it is useful only when you get down to about an inch of veggie and don;t want to slice your fingers- other wise , just use caution.

I love, love, love this mandoline. I was looking for something that I could use to do paper-thin cucumber slices without hauling out the big mandoline. This does perfect paper-thin slices and cleans up with a quick rinse. I use it so often that I added it to my hanging utensils so it's always at the ready.

I wanted a slicer that would cut paper thin and this one really does. If you are looking for vegetables that are shaved - this is the one.

Had one for several years. The blade finally broke. This replacement is working very well.

I'm confused. This simply doesn't work. The vegetables just slide right over without being sliced, very slight mangling/juicing. I use a mandoline all the time in cooking, and got this to replace my broken one. Maybe the blade is misaligned or warped? I'm returning this, very strange, and very disappointing.

Do not buy this product. I used or tried to use it once. In the trash it went. I was so frustrated I didn't want to waste the time to return it.

Fail...cannot adjust blade for thickness. Grates everything paper thin; turned onion into liquid pulp. I see no reason to buy this. Did the manufacturer actually try this himself?
