Faithfull FAICS400CNC Prestige Combination Square Black Aluminium 400mm (16in)

A really nice combination square.I have a few Faithfull tools. I particularly like their blades for jigsaws etc. They are always good quality and are built to be used.This combination square is no exception. It's part of their Prestige range.Build wise, it's very nice. It's all made from aluminium. With the adjustment knob and the scribe in the bottom, being made from brass.It has a vertical spirit level in the handle, which when measured against my Stabila level, was bang on.Where this square really stands out is in the measure.There is nothing easier to read than white characters on a black background.The markings are very crisp and precise.When compared with the standard black numbers on a steel measure, the difference is remarkable.The ruler has cm and inch marking on both sides, with the direction of the numbers being reversed, so you can have the flat edge of the handle start at 1cm or 30cm.Both ways have their uses, so having the option is great.A note on removing the ruler. It's held in place by the brass tightening knob.There is a little 'hook' at the top, and this slides into the groove on the ruler.It can be a little tricky at first, but once you've lined it up correctly, you shouldn't have any issues.The handle has a long side for 90 degree measurements, and also an angled back, for 45 degree or 135 degree measurements, depending on which way around you have it.Dont forget about the little brass scribe in the bottom. So many people never know that this is there. It's not always what you need, but it will come in handy on occasion.Overall, this is another great Faithfull tool.It is solidly made, and works well in use.Where it really stands out though, is in the legibility of the numbers on the ruler.It really is easy to see, even in subdued lighting conditions.I hope you found this review helpful.

On receipt I thought what a lovely piece of kit. Much smoother than the other steel ones available. Kept with my other shiny tools that only get used at home it was not long before the slide became very stiff on account of a small bend in the ruler. I can't say for sure but I think the ruler is made of aluminium and bends very, very easily. This is not good considering the price and that it is in fact a tool not a piece of art just to be looked at. I thought I had found the ultimate but no its very bendy.

The box arrived with a crease in it. nice box, on inspection the rule was bent. not happy.Need it for work, just had to bend it back, now its got a bit of a wobble in it. it will have to do.if it had arrived in ok condition I would have given it four stars. very light, solid body no sharp edges.

Bought as a present for the hubby as he requested one. He normally chooses his own tools but I took a chance and ordered this one and the girl did good!

I really like this, the quality is there, good solidly built.Accurate.

Quality bit of kit this had many different bands and this is by far the best one. Lost the scribe pretty early is the worse thing about it, maybe add a rubber washer

Great product. The marking are very easy to see and it feel well built.
