Must have for micro photography
You can't take micro photography of flowers in the field without this! This thing has been amazing. I know it's a plastic adjustable arm with a clamp, but seriously, it clips to your tripod and hold your flower or want ever you want to photograph so still and to reposition it any which way. A simple twist to the clamp and your subject is moved in fractions of movements getting that perfect composition. My only thought is I wish they sent a few extra bands for the clamp. Everything is fine now, but if it were to snap the clasp would be unusable. Would a regular rubber band work? I hope so, but have looked at that.As for the clamping part. It holds delicate things without an issue. My latest outing shooting flowers I didn't notice a single scuff to the stems at all.Would certainly purchase again if need be.Also something to think about. While clamping to your camera tripod works, the perfect set up would be to have this attached to something other that your camera tripod. As the little movements of adjusting your focal ring shows the vibrations into this arm making it harder, not impossible, but harder to focus on the subject.Again, would definitely buy again.

Amazon is shipping old version
As my caption already indicates… Amazon is shipping out the old version of the plamp, which is not ok.! The new version comes with a updated grippier yellow tip and the clamp itself is stronger than the orange tip version of the clamp. Not sure who’s fault this is but since more than one person already mentioned the issue I would assume that Wimberley and Amazon would have already taken care of the issue but they don’t! This is not okay! Item is returned!

Works great but pricey
This ‘Plamp’ is the right tool for the job but it doesn’t need to be so expensive.

The Plamp Is Like Having An Assistant
I do floral and nature photography. I work alone, so this is like having an assistant. I work outside and in a studio. I often clamp it on fences, tables, chairs, light stands and my tripod to hold flowers steady or my reflectors/diffusers. That side of the Plamp is strong enough to hold it solidly in place. I purchased the stake with it, but haven't used that yet. The tip of the clamp that holds the subject is a soft rubber so I can easily screw it down just enough to hold the most delicate of subjects like flower stems so they don't get pinched. There is a notch in the very corner that holds reflectors/diffusers and heartier subjects like branches and stems. I just screw down that end as tight as I need it to be.My only problem was the clamp side that holds my subjects has fallen off on occasion when I've tried to rotate it into position. After a few times of it falling off, I've learned to manipulate it so that doesn't happen. I think this is meant to be removed if you want to add extensions and then you reattach it. The stem/arm part of the Plamp is very stiff, sturdy, easily manipulated and stays in place.Overall, I don't know how I lived without this. I know people who've made their own using foam coated wire, but this Plamp's design is great and serves its purpose very well. I'm sure I'll purchase another one in the future.

Great tool for holding things
I saw this product in a Kathleen Clemons video. This stake is a great addition for the macro photography. It's very simple, a normal screwdriver and a hollow plastic tube holder. The holder is well made, light and easy to stick in your camera bag. I hold mine in my tripod pocket. I use mine with a plamp to hold 8"x10" foam board textures placed behind flowers. Additionally, it can easily support a plamp holding a 12" diffuser. How sturdy the stake is depends on the consistency of the soil you stick the screwdriver into. If the soil is loose, it won't work well. Overall, I love mine and would recommend it.

Almost exactly what I expected
The clamp is pretty much exactly what I expected from the ad listing and I'm looking forward to using it.The foam in the jaws of the special clamp seems like a good consistency to give some firmness but also the softness to not damage stems too much. The special clamp is a little bit larger than I was expecting, but that does not affect its usability for what I am planning on using it for.My only quibble is that I, for some reason, thought the special clamp was made out of metal. Instead the clamp is made out of plastic, including the set screw. Only time will tell whether or not that is sturdy enough for my purposes in the long run.

Flexability and sturdy
Very impressed with this item. Used it straight away on macro flower photography. Easy set up and able to get a very steady subject in the wind. Showed my wife and she now wants one for her crafting to hold a light, card or instructions. Looks like another order will be made. I have looked at other similar devices but none I found gave the range of flexability or grip options that the Plamp does..

Does exactly what it is designed to do
Although it's quite expensive for what it is - quite a common trait with photography equipment - it's very sturdy, grips very tightly and accommodates tubes, strips, sheets and cables equally well. A good buy.

Excellent clamp for holding flowers and small objects
Clearly superior to lower priced similar items. Very strong strong and can hold very delicate objects such as flower stems. It does the job

Wimberley Plamp II
The clamp is easy to fix to a table and the other end holds a delicate plant stem without damaging/crushing it.It is easy to set the pressure because of the set screw. The clamp also has a notch for holding a reflex screen (it will grip the screen's steel band rim to hold it) but I haven't used it like that. But it is easy enough to let it hold a letter sized board used as a reflex screen, not using its reflex screen notch.

You get what you pay for...
Well made and more flexible than some cheaper alternatives. Quite expensive, but works very well.
