ZBoard Pro Electric Skateboard

I got my ZBoard Pro from the original Kickstarter campaign and have had it for nearly 2 years. Mine was a very early one and had a backer number and my name laser engraved onto the battery case. The fact that I'm still talking about it 2 years later should say something about the quality of this board. When I got the board, I did not have much experience in board sports, yet I found the ZBoard very easy to pick up and I was having fun cruising around on it on my first day out! Since then, I've ridden the board a LOT more, and seriously, the feeling of flying up a hill on a ZBoard and feeling the wind blow around you is amazing. I can't help smiling every time! :DRecently, I purchased an upgrade kit from ZBoard, and have upgraded my board from a "Pro" to a "Pro Special". It now has the larger battery (and upgraded electronics) from the San Francisco Special model. I've also swapped the rubber wheels for the new Urethane speed wheels. The upgrade had been AMAZING. The board is now much faster, and the board goes for seemingly forever (the battery now outlasts me)! The ZBoard was a fun weekend ride before, but now it's become a board I can use for my commute. I'm blown away by the upgrade.Also, in all my communications with ZBoard, their customer service has been excellent. They are passionate about their product and are constantly improving them. Being able to upgrade my first gen ZBoard Pro to something very close to the top-end "San Francisco Special" is fantastic and shows both the elegance of the design, and the willingness of the company to look after their long-term supporters.I love my ZBoard so much that I've already put in a preorder for the recently announced ZBoard 2 Pearl.

Let me first say I love love love this skateboard! I am pretty new to long boarding when I first bought this but soon got very comfortable with it. I love the feeling when I am riding this board and it last pretty long in terms of battery life. It turns out I use it more than I thought I would. Originally I was planning to use it for commute for when I get off the train to my work place. But I find myself using it riding around at night time and also on the weekends. To date I have had this board for about 4-5 months now and still in love with it. One of the best decisions I have made!The only thing I would say is that it is really heavy. If you are going to be carrying it from one place to another before riding it then it might be a little troublesome. For me the walk from inside the train station to the outside street is pretty long and having to hold up gets very tiring. It is fine for once in a while but having to do it every day it does get tiring. That is why I pre-ordered the new Zboard 2. Since I am using the skateboard so often I decided to just upgrade.

I gave this 2 stars, because while it is a fantastic product, I have a couple of problems with it. The first was the time it took to get it, which was almost 3 weeks. That's an absurd amount of time to wait for a product coming out of california to get to kansas. The main reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because after riding it 3 times, I started having problems with the front foot pad not responding. These were very periodic and went away rather quickly. 4th time I was riding it however, I was going what I assume is the top speed when it suddenly stopped outright, sending me flying off the board, when I got back to it however, I noticed it was smoking. It was great while it worked though! My customer service experience coming up will decide whether I bump it to 3 or 1 star.Update: I have updated this product to be 4 stars because of how well the customer service experience was handled. The board is very innovative, the weight sensing pads are hands down the best way to ride. Unfortunately their board is large and clunky compared to other boards and uses what I assume is just a simple brush motor where they could've used a brushless at a slightly higher price and gotten better performance. While this is not like riding a regular longboard, it is an effective tool for transportation though and is an absolute blast to ride. I'd highly recommend buying this if you are interested in an easy quick mode of transportation.

I bought this for my 11 year old son. He does all boarding sports and is pretty fearless. I did so much homework I had a headache. My son decided that he really did not want to hold anything to speed up or slow down. He likes having his hands free or adjusts his Go Pro with his hands!! I got it in time for Christmas and it comes out of the box; ready to go. a quick charge and a 50 degree day on Christmas here in Chicago and my son was boarding up and down Michigan avenue. I thought the weight would be an issue, but it is not. It goes up and down hills and only took my son 3-4 times to start figuring out how to navigate corners and slow down or speed up. He rarely uses the brake!! He loves it!! I have the poly wheels on order and Ben (the owner) told me he would get them out by mid January. We live in the City and the streets are bumpy in places so these wheels will help. Plus; it gives you more speed. And this thing really moves fast. I could not be more pleased and I really did a lot of homework!!
