Expert Shield screen protector for: Ricoh GR III - Crystal Clear

I wanted to wait awhile to actually review this product, as I've used many screen protectors before - and wanted to make sure it was worth it to write this at all.That said, this is easily the best screen protector I've ever purchased.The application is ridiculously easy, and produced absolutely no bubbles what so ever. After 9 months of being on the camera it still shows no signs of peeling or bubbling at all. I think the key is to simply read their instructions and apply it in a humid bathroom.The protector itself is incredibly clear, and it's cut EXACTLY to fit the screen. To illustrate, I sent my camera in for repair - and I listed this protector among the items I sent. I received an e-mail from the technician working on my camera essentially asking if I was certain I had one on there.Not only is the product fantastic (seriously, they have my business for life when it comes to screen protectors), but the company is awesome. A couple months after I purchased the screen protector, I got an envelope in the mail from Expert Shield. I was slightly puzzled at first, but when I opened it up I was pretty darn surprised. They sent me the additional screen protector for the top LCD on the camera. It turns out that after I had purchased my original protector, they started making dual protectors for both screens - they sent me that second screen at absolutely no charge, no hassle, nothing required on my part. Simply so that I "wouldn't miss out."That is great service in my opinion. Extremely satisfied with this protector, and the company.

I have used many screen protectors over the years for my PDAs, iPod Touches and cell phones and I hate applying them. I always end up with bubbles which I am sometimes able to get rid of and sometimes not, and I sometimes find it difficult to align the sheets on the first try. Also, I have had many of them that are matte or slightly milky so that they make the screen harder to see, and using a screen protector was always a compromise for me.This Expert Shield is different. It comes with a small micro fiber cloth for cleaning the screen prior to applying the sheet. Then the sheet, which is firm like a thin piece of plastic, rather than flimsy like most screen protectors I've used, fits right over the screen on my Ricoh GR. When I applied the sheet, it went exactly into place the first time. I found three bubbles there, two of which were easily removed by scraping a credit card wrapped in the micro fiber cloth. I managed to shrink the third one but not completely eliminate it, but it is so tiny that I only notice if if I am looking for it. And the protector is clear so that I cannot notice any loss of brightness or clarity in the screen.One of the biggest problems I have always had with any screen protector is that you are paying ten to twenty bucks for a stupid little piece of plastic. It feels like a rip-off. But when I consider how much the screen that it's there to protect cost me, I guess it's not that hard to accept the price.One note: another reviewer of this product said theirs came with two protectors. That must have been a mistake by the person who shipped it because mine only came with one.

The screen protector was super easy to put on by following the step by step instructions. The adhesive did not last a week. I picked up my camera to get ready to use it and the screen protector fell off. I will not ever buy this product again.

Coming from a professional installer of graphics, laminate, vinyl, and the likes, I can say that this was by far, the easiest install I've had to do in quite some time. Its rigid enough to install and squeegie bubbles out, its low tack so you can reposition. Using a piece of tape to lift and another to remove dust/hair that got under works almost too well to believe.But then comes the down side. This screen protector is rigid and adheres via a soft, pliable gel layer. Having wet installed numerous urethane based screen protectors on my cell phones, I have a hunch that this protector will not stay on the camera for too long due to its physical characteristics. Its adhesion is very low tack. The Ricoh GR camera is a pocket camera, and with that fact, my camera will be going in and out of my pocket many times over the course of its life. Due to the protector's low adhesion strength and rigid construction, I can see it pulling off sooner or later.In addition, the GR camera does not have a recessed screen. This protector sits atop a flat surface on the back of the camera. It may be prone to snagging when putting into a pocket or camera case.A few side notes; the screen protector is also slightly smaller than the screen. Albeit negligible, the designer in me hates this slight lapse of craftsmanship and wishes it was a perfect fit. Also the Anti Glare version which I purchased causes a slight haziness to the screen. I suppose that's why it also comes in a Crystal Clear version. I can live with this as it does not affect image quality.Overall, I think the pros outweigh the cons. I am a tad uncertain as to how long this will last before snagging in my pocket but I have a few spare urethane based covers in case I need a backup option. Though, if buying again, I might chose the Crystal Clear option over the Anti Glare.
