The Housemaid

Brilliant!
This book was absolutely brilliant. I was riveted. This is only the second book that I read in one day. The writing is so vivid that the characters came to life. I sympathized so much for the main character, Millie. This book had everything, intrigue, glamour, psychological patterns , mental health abuse, sexuality, human nature, social status. Even though I started to figure out what was going on towards the middle, it still kept me going and surprised me until the end. I can’t wait to see the movie and already downloaded the sequel!

A fast-paced, twisty psychological thriller that keeps you hooked
Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid is a gripping, unputdownable thriller packed with secrets, lies, and unexpected twists. When Millie, desperate for a fresh start, accepts a job as a live-in housekeeper for the wealthy Winchester family, she quickly realizes that things are far from normal. Nina, her new employer, is unpredictable and manipulative, her husband is distant yet intriguing, and their seemingly perfect home hides dark secrets. As Millie becomes entangled in their lives, she discovers that escaping this job might be harder than she ever imagined.McFadden’s writing is sharp and engaging, making this a fast, addictive read. The tension builds steadily, with unsettling clues that hint at something more sinister lurking beneath the surface. Just when you think you know where the story is going, McFadden pulls the rug out from under you with twists that keep the pages turning. While some elements rely on familiar psychological thriller tropes, the execution is strong, and the suspense never lets up. The ending is particularly satisfying, tying everything together in a way that feels both shocking and earned.

Glad I read it
It was a good thriller with plenty of great twists and turns that kept me hooked. I especially liked Enzo for sticking around for Millie, and I appreciated Nina’s willingness to "take one for the team." At the end. Even though it took me a long time to finally pick up this book, I’m really glad I did—it turned out to be very interesting and worth the read. I’m excited to continue the rest of The Housemaid series!

Good, fun read.
Very easy read with an enjoyable pace and plot. Definitely some good twists and turns. A slight disappointment in the overall outcome of Andy’s fate, but overall pretty good. Second half of the book is tough to put down.

Captivating & Original
Absolutely loved this book! I really was caught off guard by how many twists it took, especially given the style itself made me put my guard down, expecting it to be as light as the tone it’s written in, even if the material at times got heavy. Once I hit about page 80, I couldn’t put it down. I was sitting for hours at a time fully locked in and engaged. Can’t recommend highly enough. A perfect mystery and suspense novel for anyone who enjoys the genre.

The perfect thriller & drama
This story was a page turner and a well written thriller/drama. The characters are all written well and the way the story breaks up the events as you dive deeper into the Winchesters and Millie is greatly written. I'm usually pretty good at guessing the plot in mysteries but this one got me a few times ! Highly recommend for those that like this genre & it was a great first Freida McFadden read for me! Perfect for a nighttime mystery read but expect to stay up late for that next chapter!

Sunscreen, a Cocktail, and This Book—Perfection!
ruth be told, this book was so addictive I wanted nothing more than to post up beachside with a drink in hand and devour the whole thing. I originally picked it up as a beach vacation read, and wow—I could not put it down. Total page-turner! I was so into it that my husband got curious and started reading it too. And the moment I hit the last page? I was already ordering the next book in the series. If you're looking for a gripping, unputdownable story, this is it.
